About this farm route
This is the fall farm drive for everyone between Lawrence and Kansas City, and it works because the farmland thins out gradually rather than stopping at a suburb line. You start on the bluffs south of the Kansas River outside Lawrence, cross the Eudora and Edgerton farm country, and finish in Overland Park, where the last stop is a city-run farmstead rather than a commercial operation. October is the reason to drive it. Corn mazes, pumpkin fields and hayrides are all running at once, and the route is short enough that a family can do the whole thing between breakfast and dinner without anyone running out of patience.

When to go
Best time to go
Late September through October. Several stops also open for strawberries in May and sweet corn in midsummer.

Know before you go
- October weekends are the peak. Weekday afternoons are far quieter and the mazes are easier with small children.
- Field parking turns to mud after rain. A low car can struggle at the smaller farms.
- Hours contract sharply outside pumpkin season, so check before driving in summer.
